Humans have been displaying a certain sense of intense curiosity fueled by their boundless imagination, since the beginning of time. This inquisitiveness has driven them to dig deeper into the mysteries of Nature – its primordial and originative elements, the causes of creation, and the secrets of various internal and external happenings, connected with the inert or material and sentient being.
This exploration channelized into different aspects of knowledge in India and the Western world. The Indian pursuit began with an endeavor to understand oneself with intuitive wisdom, navigated towards the knowledge of plurality in the observed world, and sought to find the reality and purpose of human life in the background of the world. It is based on the principle of ‘whole to parts’. The Western pursuit began with the exploration of fundamental nature of matter, to find a unified principle from which the diversity in the world came forth and is based on the principle of ‘parts to whole’.
Despite the apparent contrary import of Indian and Western knowledge systems, there is an inherent unanimity as well as inculcated universality at their roots. Each knowledge system has significant credibility, authenticity, and sense of welfare. It is imperative to employ a critical but symbiotic approach to decipher the complexities and nuances of these two seemingly contrary knowledge assemblages.
The objective of this website is to briefly describe the salient aspects of Indian as well as Western knowledge systems. This renewed clarity may allow new insights in contemporary times.
